  • Before completing an on-line order, make sure your information is accurate. Once the order is placed, the information cannot be changed or corrected online at GoCertificates.
  • Marriage license is valid only in the State of Delaware.
  • Marriage license fee is $70.00 if either applicant is a Delaware resident (proof of address is required); $120.00 fee if neither applicant is a Delaware resident. This includes the recording fee of $20.00, due at time of application.
  • Do not start another order, corrections can be made when you pick up your license at the office. If you re-enter Go Certificates after the completion of your order, you will be generating a new order and will be billed accordingly. Please check your entries for accuracy before completing your order.
  • In addition to your purchase price, your credit card will be charged: $19.95 by GoCertificates for processing your order. $2.50 shipping and handling for Certified copies and Gift Certificates mailed from the New Castle County Marriage Bureau.
MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATIONS
Have your Credit card and photo I.D. information ready before proceeding with the ordering process. For online marriage license application, all blocks must be filled in before completion.   • The license must be picked up by both parties within 30 days at the New Castle County Marriage Bureau to complete the process.
  • When you pick up your license, you cannot be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • The Marriage License may be picked up during business hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.-3:30 pm. The office is closed 12 noon-1 p.m. You may also check our webpage: www.nccde.org for Holiday or Weather related closures.
  • There is a 24 hour waiting period after you pick up the license before you can use it.
  • The license must be used within 30 days from the date you pick it up or it will expire.
  • Ceremonies performed by this office must be scheduled in advance. Please be prepared to schedule your ceremony the day you pick up the license. All ceremony fees are due at that time and are non-refundable. No appointments will be made over the phone. Please contact our office for more information.
  • Please bring in the same identifications you used during the online application process and any required paperwork (Original or Certified Copies only). Photocopies of documents will not be accepted.

Are you currently on Probation or Parole? If yes, you must have the Department of Corrections written authorization to apply for marriage license. Please bring this with you to pick up the marriage license.

You are ordering your marriage license from the New Castle County Marriage Bureau, it must be picked up at the New Castle County Marriage Bureau and can be used anywhere in the State of Delaware.
MARRIAGE CERTIFIED COPIES
Online orders submitted after 4 pm Friday through Monday 8 am will be processed the next business working day. All others will be processed within 24 hrs. You may also check our webpage: www.nccde.org for Holiday or Weather related closures.

This office only has marriage and civil union records for Delaware licenses that were issued in New Castle County Delaware dating back to 1911. Marriage and civil union records that are under 40 years old are only available to the parties listed on the record.Note: Credit card payment for this transaction must bear the name of one of the parties on the credit card. An attorney or power of attorney can also make the request on behalf of the parties. Any marriage/civil union record that is 40 years old or older, is a matter of public record and is available to anyone. Any marriage/civil union record found without the return information from the officiator will be issued to the purchaser, a certified copy stating "No record found" and instructions as how to get their marriage properly recorded.
