  • Before completing an online order, make sure your information is accurate. Once the order is placed, the information can not be changed or corrected on GoCertificates. If you re-enter GoCertificates after the completion of your order, you will be generating a new order and will be billed accordingly. Please check your entries for accuracy before completing your order.
  • Online orders submitted after 4 pm Friday through Monday 8 am will be processed Monday. All others will be processed within 24 hrs.
  • In addition to your purchase price, your credit card will be charged: $19.95 for Marriage License and $19.95 for Certified Copies by GoCertificates for processing your order. $2.50 shipping and handling for certified copies mailed from the Kent County Clerk of the Peace.
MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATIONS
In accordance with H.B. 75, same sex marriage licenses may be applied for and issued beginning July 1, 2013. Have your credit card and photo I.D. information ready before proceeding with the ordering process. For online marriage application, all data must be complete before processing.

  • The license must be picked up by both parties within 29 days at the Kent County Clerk of the Peace to complete the process.
  • We are open Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • There is a 24 hour waiting period after you pick up the license before you can use it.
  • The license must be used within 30 days from the date you pick it up or it will expire.
  • Ceremonies performed by this office must be scheduled in advance as we are generally booked 2 weeks in advance. Please be prepared to schedule your ceremony the day you pick up the license.
  • Please bring in the same identifications you used during the online application process and any required paperwork (Original or Certified Copies only). Photocopies or faxed copies of documents will not be accepted. Only cash is accepted for ceremony fees.
  • When you pick up your license, you cannot be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Are you currently on probation or parole? If yes, you must have the Department of Corrections authorization to apply for marriage license OR Are you in a prohibited degree of relationship? Related in any way to one another or still married to someone else? If yes, you cannot apply for a marriage license. Please call our office for further information 302-744-2346.

It must be picked up at the Kent County Clerk of the Peace Office and can be used anywhere in the State of Delaware. MARRIAGE CERTIFIED COPIES
This office retains marriage records for Delaware licenses that were applied for in Kent County, Delaware dating back to 2001. Marriage records prior to 2001 are not available through this online request. Marriage records are only available to the parties listed on the record. Note: credit card payment for this transaction must bear the name of the applicant. An attorney or power of attorney can also make the request on behalf of the parties. Please do not apply for any marriage records occurring prior to 2001. In the event a completed marriage record does not exist due to the officiator’s failure, a notice stating "No Record Found" will be issued to purchaser.
